On global scale, the DNA forensic expertise has been established for many years as standard method with a wide range of application in various investigative procedures, whether it is a kinship test, paternity testing or analysis of contentious biological traces collected from a crime scene. In the modern investigative processes, DNA analysis is an unavoidable method which provides highly reliable results as well as undoubtful practical values. In the past decade, INGEB has successfully established a DNA forensic expertise system operating from the basic to the most complex biological traces which imply the analysis of small and degraded amounts of hereditary material, including mixed biological traces. These activities are impemented by Forensic Genetics Laboratory.
Forensic genetics laboratory expert activities include:
- testing of disputed paternity using samples of buccal swab (which reduces traumatic effect on children), blood, hair, bones and other baseline samples.
- motherless paternity testing,
- testing of motherhood without the presence of the father,
- biological kinship testing
- forensic DNA analysis for police, prosecution, law offices, courts and private individual purposes. The analysis of samples of different origin is possible: skeletal remains, blood stains (on different materials), hair, semen, controversial traces on cigarette butts, controversial traces under fingernails, in urin etc
